While in Mexico, I like to do a little jewelry shopping for my loved ones. If you’ve ever been to Mexico, then you know that is not an easy thing to do. Although the lights in the stores make the jewelry look beautiful, the jewelry is not always authentic so one has to be very careful how much one pays for an item and the bargaining can be a real hassle at times.
I was thinking this morning about how this is true in our own lives as well. Just because we believe something is real, doesn’t mean it is. How often do we believe in an idea or thought, a person, or even a belief system and then, much later, find out the reality of the situation: that we have believed in a fake? That what we thought was true, really wasn’t?
Are you believing the truth or a lie? Today, dear one, take time to be sure of what is real and what is fake. Scripture tells us to hold fast to what is true and to test the spirits (1 John 4:1). Jesus said “You shall know a tree by its fruit” (Matt 7:20).
Today my prayer is that we seek the truth in our lives so that we will not believe in the fake things the world offers, but hold fast to those things that are true and eternal.
May the Lord bless you today and shine His light upon you so that you may know the truth and recognize the fake.
