Life is so fast-paced these days, isn’t it? Everyone I talk to says the same thing. “I’m busy”.Regardless of whether one is married, single, working, or retired, the answer is still the same. “I’m busy.”
The question I want to pose today is “Busy with what?” What are we all so busy doing? Daily activities and chores such as cleaning house, laundry, washing the car can keep us plenty busy. Taking care of ourselves and others can keep us busy. Work, play, rest, and going to church take up more time. But at the end of the day, week, month, year can we look back and say “Well done, good and faithful servant?” What have we done that really matters for the Kingdom? For eternity? What have we done that makes a difference?
That’s my question for us all today. Today is really all we have. What have I done today to bring peace, show love, kindness, encouragement? Who or what have I served today? I guess it all boils down to “How have I emulated Jesus today?”
We will all have to account to the King, our Heavenly Father, some day and give an account for our lives. Woe to those who have forsaken Jesus, for they shall truly be judged, but that’s a message for another day.
Today, I want to encourage you to make time to do something that matters. It doesn’t have to be a huge thing. Perhaps call a sick friend, encourage a loved one, take dinner over to a neighbor, shovel their driveway. No one else has to know about it, for your Heavenly Father sees all. Make each day count, so that at the end of your life, you can look back and say “Well done!”
