He is Risen

It is 4 am. The sun is not up yet but I am. The birds are chirping their love songs already. I can imagine Mary not being able to sleep, walking slowly to the tomb where her best friend, Jesus, was buried. Who is your best friend? Your spouse? Your friend from high school or college? Your mom? How would you feel if they died unexpectedly?

My dad died last year and I know how it feels. Jack was a kind & gentle spirit who loved Jesus and could recite 1 Cor 13 by heart. His passing was quite a shock and a loss to our family. I rejoice knowing he is in heaven, playing golf and dancing with the angels. Perhaps you, too, have suffered a loss.

So it must have been with Mary, when she saw the stone had been rolled away. As she crept into the darkness of the tomb, perhaps she was shocked.

“Where is my, Lord?” she cried out in unbelief and fear. Do we not all do the same when pain, loss, and tragedy strike our lives? “Where is God in all this?”

Jesus’s answer is the same today as it was two thousand years ago.
“I am not here. I have risen.”

Jesus conquered the grave. He healed the sick, made the blind to see and the deaf to hear. He cast out demons and performed many miracles. He is still in the miracle-working business today because He is alive!

What miracle would you like to see in your life? What dream or hope have you given up on? As the angel said to Mary, “Fear not” only believe and you will see miracles happen. The choice always remains with us.  Will we be like Thomas or like Mary? Will we walk in fear or faith over our circumstances?

When we walk with Jesus, we don’t have to carry our cross alone. As my youngest son recently reminded me of the two sets of footprints that became one in the sand. When we go thru our darkest nights of the soul, as I did on Monday, and Jesus did on Holy Friday, God is merciful. When we don’t know where the road ahead leads and we are at our weakest, Jesus carries us.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31).

The walk with Jesus is not always the easy path. The journey to faith is paved with potholes. Yet it always leads us to higher ground. If we are willing to believe, we, too, can conquer our fears, doubts and unbelief, because He lives!

No matter what lies in front of us, we can trust that God has a plan and a purpose for it. No matter how many times we stumble and fall under the weight of our cross, or like Peter, fail and doubt, God is always there to pick us up, dust us off, and place us on solid ground.

As you celebrate this glorious day, whatever your beliefs, I encourage you to give Jesus a try. Jesus, like Coca-Cola, is the real thing. Every other path is a detour. As he revealed himself to Mary, He will reveal himself to you and you, too, will rise up with wings like eagles and soar!

Whatever your dream, follow it! Whatever your passion, live it. Whatever you dream, believe in it!

Easter – A Time of Renewal and New Life

Happy Easter and Resurrection, friends. What does Easter mean to you? To some, Easter is no big deal. To me, and to many of you who are interested in personal and spiritual growth, Easter has a huge meaning.

When I contemplate what Jesus overcame at the cross and the Resurrection, it fills me with hope. Because Jesus conquered the grave, I, too, can conquer those things that try to defeat me. Easter represents a chance for renewal, for casting off old habits and harmful behaviors, and being born again to new life.

This is the glory and the beauty of the Resurrection; that we who are believers in Jesus Christ, have the power thru His Holy Spirit dwelling within us to become new creations. I don’t have to succumb to my fears and weaknesses forever. I know that there is power accessible to me that can change, yea, transform me. I have seen it in myself and in my loved ones and it is truly a modern day miracle.

My prayer for you is that this Easter you will be renewed and transformed. May you be filled with power from On High to overcome that which holds you back from being all that you can be. Blessings and Joy to you all and glory be to God!

New Life

Spring has sprung and the blossoms are blooming. New life is all around us. Seeing the sun burst through my windows in the morning fills me with joy. To me, it’s like God is saying “Good morning, I love you.”

Each morning reminds me that God’s mercies are new every day. God forgives me for my sins of yesterday. So I need to forgive myself for my misdeeds and words. I ask Jesus to help me to do better today. Then I forgive others for whatever hurts they may have caused me. The prayer of Jabez coin on my dresser reminds me to “not cause pain to others.” James 1:19 says “Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry.” This is simple but powerful advice on how to stay out of trouble.

Each of us is doing the best we can and we are all at different places in our spiritual journey. It is only by God’s great grace that I am able to do what He has called me to do and that is to be an encouragement to others. Every day God gives us is a gift of new life; a chance to do things better and a chance to enjoy life more.

Today, dear one, will you receive the new life Jesus has to offer? I encourage you to enjoy your day, your life, and trust God to give you breakthrough in His timing. In the meantime, go out and be a blessing to someone else and let the joy of the Lord be your strength! Happy Wednesday!

Resurrection Power

For many, Easter has come and gone and now it’s back to hum drum life. I don’t know about you but I am excited about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Just as Jesus was transformed, we too, can be transformed. How? you ask. By the power of the Resurrection, that’s how. If God can raise a dead man, can He not handle the issues of our lives? Can He not raise us up again as well?

Acts 2 talks about the things that the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit does for us – strengthens us, gives us confidence, enables us to overcome obstacles, grows our faith, heals us, performs miracles, and gives us NEW LIFE! Now that is something to be excited about, if you ask me.

What is it in your life that you are struggling with, dear one? Whether it is a health issue, a finances issue, a relationship issue or an emotional issue, Jesus is able to transform you and make you whole. As Jesus said to the woman with the issue of blood in Luke 8:48, “Daughter, your faith has made you whole. Go and be in peace.”

Today, I am putting my faith in Jesus Christ and the power of His Resurrection. I am choosing to trade my suffering for His peace. How about you?
